A huge Christmas cheer goes to Barnes Construction who has handed out a whopping £44,291 this year to charities and good causes.
The eye watering total was made up of donations given by the business over the year to local charities such as: Lighthouse Women’s Aid, Suffolk Mind, Home Start Suffolk and Suffolk Tree Warden Network, and also to charities operating throughout the region such as World Land Trust, East Anglian Air Ambulance and Act 4 Addenbrookes.
Yet a big thank you goes to the staff at Barnes Construction who through their collective fundraising efforts throughout the year have contributed an impressive £10,000 to the overall total.
A lot of fun was had by everyone participating in activities such as, the ‘Wear it Pink Day for Breast Cancer Now’, ‘Dress Down Days’ for Children in Need and Comic Relief, ‘Chariots of Fire Relay Race’ for Magpas Air Ambulance, ‘Whole Hog Muddy Run’ for Ormiston Charities and the ‘Sports Day’ for HomeStart. Also worthy of a special mention is the annual ‘Not Fayers Golf Day for Amend’ which raised £6,000. Organised and hosted by Barnes and taking place at Rushmere Golf Club, the event – in memory of Nick Fayers the previous MD of Barnes Construction who passed away in 2017 – saw teams representing the local construction community taking part.
The most recent fundraising took place last week and saw volunteers from Barnes giving up their own time to spread a little Christmas cheer and help collect donations of £1,226 for Genesis Orwell Mencap as part of the Ipswich Greyfriars Round Table (854)’s annual Santa and Rudolph Float run in the Broke Hall area of Ipswich. Also, at head office in Bermuda Road in Ipswich, staff all proudly wore their festive best to support children in need around the world for Save the Children UK’s Christmas Jumper Day raising £210.
Mark Hart and Bob Steward are Joint Managing Directors at Barnes Construction. They are proud of the fundraising efforts of everyone involved and said: “A huge thank you and well done to everyone who took part and helped us in being able to donate this amount of money to these amazing charities and good causes.
“We have always been passionate supporters of local charities and good causes in the communities in which we operate. Yet, vitally important to us as a ‘family’ business, is that we support our people through their fundraising events, and pro-bono work. Our aim is that we leave a positive legacy where we live and work – not just through delivering exceptional buildings, but by unlocking long-term value for the local communities.”
