Construction of an affordable housing scheme in Bury St Edmunds has been completed and handed over to the client Havebury Housing Partnership.
Built by Mixbrow Construction, the £4 million development provides 36 one and two‐bed apartments; 28 as shared ownership and eight as affordable rent.
Part-funded by Homes England, the scheme sits behind The Beerhouse on land which previously housed The Old Maltings, Vision Nightclub and Lucky Break Snooker Hall.
The plan has been well thought through, making the most of the space available by converting the two existing older buildings and constructing a new building on the remaining land, spread over three and four storeys, with a stepped design to reflect the contours of the site.
The flats sit around a central community garden with pedestrian access from Station Hill and Tayfen Road. There is also parking for 18 vehicles and each home has two cycle spaces.
