A ceremony has marked the handover of 11 affordable homes in Suffolk – built by one of the country’s leading property developers.
The Chilton Place redevelopment by Anderson will see 130 new traditional-style homes, with 45 of them designated as affordable homes delivered in partnership with Babergh District Council.
The first 11 of these, handed over at a ceremony on Monday, November 15th, include five parish homes designated for local people.
Timothy Chilvers, Land & Planning Manager at Anderson, said: “This handover marks a hugely exciting milestone for Chilton Place.
“We are delighted to be handing over the first eleven affordable homes ahead of schedule.
“Here at Anderson, we are proud of our partnership with Babergh District Council, which is delivering quality affordable homes that reflect the prevailing character of this historic Parish.
“We also enjoyed worked closely with the Chilton Parish Council to ensure that a proportion of these homes are safeguarded for local residents.”
Councillor Jan Osborne, Babergh District Council’s cabinet member for housing, said: “Everyone should have somewhere affordable that they can call home and, by working with developers, we can make sure we have the right type of housing to meet the needs of local residents.
“This site offers a mix of affordable housing, helping those on lower-income to own their own property with a part-rent, part-buy option.”
Lady Valerie Hart, chair of Chilton Parish Council, said: ‘’Chilton Parish Council have liaised with Anderson throughout regarding this development and are very pleased that five of the affordable homes are designated for rental by local people.”
