Tim Young, regional procurement manager at Lovell, has been announced as the winner of the ‘Contribution to Education’ category at the IoSCM Supply Chain Awards 2023, held in November 2023.
Tim was recognised for his unwavering passion for inspiring and supporting his team at Lovell, introducing the first procurement apprentice to the team in the region, sharing his expertise and promoting education in construction.
Tim Young said: “I am overjoyed to have won this award and to have been recognised for my contribution to education and championing and supporting my team. I have autism, and providing opportunities for people with autism is something else which I champion. Outside of working at Lovell, I teach procurement to people doing their CIPs degrees online.”
Tim’s unwavering support for Julie Wainwright, a former Lovell apprentice in procurement, saw Julie nominate Tim for this award. Julie was the first person to undertake this role at Lovell in East Anglia and has since earned a well-deserved promotion to the position of assistant buyer.
Julie Wainwright said: “Tim has been so supportive since I joined Lovell back in 2021 as a procurement apprentice. During studying for my apprenticeship and for my Level 3 CIPS, Tim has always been there to make sense of the more perplexing areas of procurement by giving me real world examples and explanations. Tim is generous with his time, making time to discuss new ideas, including his passion for sustainability. With his help and guidance, I have been able to progress and show my skills. I will always be grateful to Tim for giving me the tools and confidence to grow and develop within my role. I hope he knows how much I appreciate this and this award is truly deserved.”
