Father Christmas made a surprise visit to the maternity and children’s wards at James Paget Hospital in Great Yarmouth.

The visit was organised by London Diamond Drilling (LDD) and Morgan Sindall Construction, who have been working to maintain the hospital’s roof, which is constructed with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC).

As Father Christmas is currently in Lapland preparing for the big day, Morgan Sindall Project Manager Danny Branson donned the white beard and red hat on Tuesday to hand out gifts.

This is the second time the construction firms have arranged for a visit from Santa and as last year’s visit was such a success, they were keen to make this visit even more magical.

To help create a festive atmosphere at the hospital, the Morgan Sindall team also donated a Christmas tree for the site’s entrance.

LDD owner Ziggy Seagroatt said:: “We are proud to be working alongside Morgan Sindall to deliver the project at James Paget Hospital and were delighted to visit the maternity and children’s wards to spread some Christmas joy.

“It was a privilege for our team to meet all the children and new parents on the wards and to play a part in bringing some festive cheer during their time in hospital.

“As a company, it is fantastic to be able to give something back to the community

“We hope Father Christmas brought a big smile to their faces.”

Morgan Sindall have been working with subcontractor LDD to brace the roof of the buildings, moving ward to ward installing support systems to ensure the buildings are safe.

The children’s ward and maternity were made safe and renovated last year.

Alister Broadberry, Area Director for Morgan Sindall Construction in the Eastern Counties, said: “It’s a real privilege to work on projects with the James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as they do so much amazing work for the people of Great Yarmouth.

“We were delighted to come together with LDD to create this special Christmas moment, and it was wonderful to see the joy that was brought by Danny – sorry Santa’s – visit to the hospital’s maternity and children’s wards.”
