The contribution from the leading developer was made as part of its Community Fund scheme, and the charity has now installed the defibrillator at The Cherry Tree Pub in the town.

Based in the heart of the community, The Witham Hub carries out a range of vital services for local people and knows exactly what’s needed to enhance the neighbourhood.

Tina Townsend, Chair of Trustees at The Witham Hub, said: “We are a lifeline to many. We support with food but, much more, sometimes it’s just a friendly ear and it’s priceless to our beneficiaries.

“Our new 24/7 defibrillator at The Cherry Tree Pub brings our count up to five defibrillator units under our care in Witham, and the funding from Barratt and David Wilson Homes also enabled us to donate much needed catastrophic bleed kits to the area’s first responders.

“We can’t operate without organisations like Barratt and David Wilson Homes helping us, and we rely on the generosity of businesses, large and small, to keep us doing what we do.”

The aim of the Witham Community Hub is to promote social inclusion for the public benefit of individuals living within the town and its surrounding area. It does this by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society.

It also strives to develop the capacity and skills of individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged in such a way that they are better able to identify and help meet their needs to participate more fully in society.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ donation was made as part of its Community Fund scheme via The Barratt Foundation, which is run by its parent company, Barratt Developments. It is designed to support national and local charities, large and small, across the UK to leave a legacy in the communities in which the housebuilder operates.

Tom Wright, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We are thrilled to support The Witham Hub, which carries out a number of tremendous services for members of the town’s community.

“It’s great to hear our donation has enabled the charity to install a new defibrillator. They are vital assets for the neighbourhood, and we’re pleased to have contributed to increasing the amount of life-saving equipment accessible in the area.”
