Work has started on the construction of a new SEND school in Essex – which will provide 252 school places.
Once opened, the all-through school, at the Wolsey Park development in Rayleigh, will welcome key stage 1 and 2 schoolchildren.
Meanwhile, Key Stage 3 and 4 children will attend the former site of Chetwood Primary School in South Woodham Ferrers.

A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held at the site attended by Councillor Andrew Sheldon, Councillor Tony Ball, Dame Rebecca Harris DBE MP, Mark Francois MP, Zenith Multi-Academy Trust CEO Andy Hodgkinson and Councillor Cheryl Roe.
Kier Construction was appointed to construct the new school, the first of its kind in the area, under a pre-construction services agreement.
The company will also support the delivery of the Wolsey Park site.

The new SEND school is being constructed in partnership between Essex County Council, Zenith Multi-Academy Trust, Kier Construction and Vistry, the developers of Wolsey Park.
The school will provide 150 places in the Wolsey Park development with an additional 102 places at the former site of Chetwood Primary School.
