The director of an Ipswich chartered surveyors has reflected on the firm’s recent milestones and its exciting plans for the future as the business’ 130th year comes to an end.
Castons was established in 1895 and has grown into one of the top property and construction consultants in the east.
It’s been a busy year for the company, including moving from its headquarters in Grimwade Street, where it was based for 71 years, into new offices at Felaw Maltings.
As the team raised a glass to celebrate one year at Castons’ new home, Director Tim Tompkins reflected on the company’s recent key developments.

“This celebration marked our first year in our new offices and the close of Castons’ 130th year in business,” he said.
“It has been a busy time at the business, with a lot changing – it feels like a new chapter in our long history.
“The office move has been huge for us, moving to an open plan office and a new way of working, as was becoming part of Artelia Group and becoming a patron of the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce – it’s a very exciting time at the company.
“It’s great to be able to take a moment to reflect and to thank the team for all their hard work.”

Although Castons are viewed as experts in healthcare construction projects, Tim said he was keen to show the breadth of its work and expand into further markets.
“We are well known for our work and expertise in healthcare but we do also work across a wide array of construction sectors,” he said.
“As part of our planned growth, we are keen to build upon this, taking on more work in education, commercial, infrastructure and energy, among others.
“We are well established and well-known in the east of England and across the UK but want to keep growing.
“We want to continue delivering our expertise and skills nationally while retaining the local touch, personalised to each client.”
