Partnership housing specialist Lovell has appointed a new Regional Managing Director for East Anglia.

Matthew Goakes has been promoted after the previous Managing Director, Simon Medler, who led the East Anglia region for almost 19 years, took a national position as Operations and Customer Experience Director.

Matthew joined the company in 2014 as Commercial Manager, later progressing to Commercial Director before becoming Area Director in 2022, with responsibility for a Suffolk joint venture known as Edmundham Developments.

He said: “This is a proud moment for me. I have been able to grow my career at Lovell because the business believes in giving people the chance to progress and take on new challenges.

“The East Anglia region has achieved a great deal and I am committed to building on that success with our teams and partners.

“I look forward to leading the region and continuing the strong partnership approach that has been such an important part of our ethos.”

Lovell, which is part of Morgan Sindall Group, is a national partnership housing specialist that delivers multi-tenure communities, residential construction and regeneration across England, Scotland and Wales.

As well as his new role as Operations and Customer Experience Director, Simon will also take on the role of Managing Director of Compendium Living from the end of March.

David Gough, Managing Director of Operations and Commercial, said: “Simon and Matthew have both made a significant contribution to Lovell over many years.

“Their promotions reflect the dedication, experience and leadership they bring to the business.

“Simon has guided the East Anglia region with real commitment and has built a strong foundation for future growth.

“Matthew has followed a similar path, developing through the business and proving himself as a trusted leader.

“These appointments show the strength of our people and the opportunities available for those who want to grow their careers with us.”
