The Mayor of Kings Lynn and West Norfolk has officially opened an upgraded play area at Memorial Fields in Downham Market.
The revamped play area opened on Tuesday May 12 having received ‘significant investment’ to update the equipment and modernise the much-loved community space.
The project was part-funded by the UK Government, with £50,000 from the Rural England Prosperity Fund alongside a £12,500 contribution from the borough council’s play area budget.

Cllr Andy Bullen, Mayor of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, said: “This project has breathed new life into a space that means a great deal to local families.
“The upgraded play area is modern, inclusive and designed to be enjoyed by children for many years to come.
“I want to thank residents for their patience while the work was carried out.”

The new playground equipment was manufactured and installed by Wisbech-based firm Online Playgrounds.
Cllr Bullen added: “It is wonderful to see the community already making the most of the new play equipment.
“I am grateful for the support from the UK Government’s Rural England Prosperity Fund and the contribution from our borough council’s play area budget, which together made this possible.
“As I near the end of my Mayoral year, it is especially meaningful to open a project in my home town – something that will have a lasting, positive impact on the families of Downham Market.”
The upgraded play area is now open for the public to enjoy.
