A community in Essex has celebrated the grand opening of a 137-bedroom care home near Chelmsford.

Broomfield Village Care Home, which sits behind Broomfield Hospital, is the first in the Principle Care Homes family, and started welcoming its first residents last month.

The home caters for residents needing residential care, dementia care, nursing care and respite care, with a vision to make people feel special every day in their later years.

Chelmsford Mayor Janette Potter said: “This is an exceptional care home; ‘care’ being the appropriate word.

“It is like a home from home. I have been absolutely blown away by the facilities here.”

R G Carter were appointed to bring the plans to fruition in 18 months, stripping back and transforming the derelict building into the well-equipped care home.

The building includes an art and craft room, a beauty salon, a winter garden room, a country kitchen, a radio room and a cinema with adjoining sweet shop.

Residents can have their own self-contained studio suite with patio, a weekly pamper with a hairdresser and beauty therapist, physiotherapy and chiropody services, and dining with their visiting friends and relatives in the garden café bar.

The home is the first to be created by brother and sister Ashish and Nisha Goyal, who grew up within their family care home business.

Ash said to his guests at the official launch event: “Thank you to all who have trusted us with their loved ones. This is a stunning home which will touch the lives of many.

“A few weeks ago, we were standing in what was a nice-looking building. Today, it is a place where people will feel cared for, valued and, above all, special.

“We are at the very beginning of our journey. We are super excited about what the next phase is to bring.”
