Workers are making good progress on the construction of a new Costco store in Norwich – the American giant’s first foray into East Anglia.
Contractors R G Carter have now completed all foundations on the 4.16hectare site, with steel erection works on the warehouse building underway and set to continue over the coming weeks.
Work will then begin on the two-storey car park in October.
Alex Mackay, Director and General Manager at R G Carter, said: “It’s great to see the project continuing to progress, with the steel frame now underway on the warehouse.
“The completion of the foundations and start of the superstructure marks a significant stage in the programme, and we’re looking forward to maintaining this momentum in the weeks ahead.”

Construction on the project began earlier this year, with the store in Old Chapel Way, just off the A47, set to be Costco’s first store in the region.
Alongside groceries, clothing and homeware, the store will also boast electricals, a bakery, butchery and food court.
The two-storey car park will hold more than 600 spaces, with a petrol station also planned to be built on nearby land.
The store is expected to create a minimum of 160 permanent jobs upon opening.

Construction is set to be completed in spring 2027.
