A groundbreaking ceremony has taken place in Chelmsford as work gets underway on the construction of a new 60-bed care home.

Representatives from Lovett Care, Holden and Lee, Horizon Construction and Harris Irwin Architects gathered on-site to celebrate work starting on the care facility.

Steve Tilley, Commercial Director of Horizon Construction, said the team were excited about commencing work on this local scheme and the project’s advancement in the short period since starting on site.

“We are incredibly pleased to have broken ground on this site and to be selected by Lovett Care to build this 60-bed care home,” he said.

“We are delighted with initial progress on site and look forward to creating a long-standing working relationship with the project team.”

The new Lovett care facility will look to address the growing need for residential and dementia care in the area.

Development Director at Lovett Care, Andrew Williams, added: “We are pleased to be growing our portfolio of homes and building our very first home in Essex.”

Work on the facility is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026.

It will include amenities for residents to enjoy, including a hair salon, cinema, spa and café.

The new home will support the company’s mission of providing exceptional, person-centred care in a “home from home” environment that promotes safety and comfort for its residents.
