Housing developer, Hopkins Homes has joined forces with Smas Worksafe, one of the UK’s leading providers of health and safety assessments and a national leader in providing full-form SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement).

The partnership marks a milestone for the East Anglian housebuilder, sealing its commitment to health and safety, whilst mitigating risk within its supply chain.

From 21st August, all Hopkins Homes’ contractors and sub-contractors will need to hold a Smas Worksafe SSIP accreditation, providing evidence of their health and safety compliance. This will ensure all trades are compliant prior to being awarded contracts.

Susannah Brasted, Head of Health and Safety at Hopkins Homes said: “We take the health and safety of every worker on our sites and within our offices very seriously, so I’m delighted that we are partnering with Smas Worksafe. This strengthens our standards and the expectations of anyone who wants to work for Hopkins Homes.”

The partnership will support the housebuilder’s commitment to excellence within the workplace and help upskill the local workforce to industry standards.

Susannah continued: “Mitigating risk in our supply chain is vital to us as a leading housebuilder and local employer. Over half of our supply chain is already accredited and we will work with our remaining contractors to onboard them to the latest standards.

“A healthy supply chain supports our planning and build schedules, whilst delivering superior craftmanship in a safe setting – all of which results in an engaged workforce and happy customers.”

Smas Worksafe’s Head of Commercial, Ricky Couling added, “We’re very proud to be the SSIP scheme of choice for Hopkins Homes, joining them in their mission to deliver exceptional homes of distinction whilst prioritising the health, safety and wellbeing of their staff, contractors and customers.”
