Pupils at Castle Hill Infant and Junior School in Ipswich have received a donation of 35 hi-vis kit bags from David Wilson Homes to help ensure they remain visible and safe during their journeys to and from school.

The donation coincides with Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel, which takes place from 24th March to 4th April. The campaign inspires pupils to make active journeys to school, improve air quality in their neighbourhood and discover how these changes benefit their world.

The kit bags donated by the housebuilder will help children stand out to drivers and other road users, particularly during early morning and late afternoon commutes.

Located near David Wilson Homes’ Henley Gate development, Castle Hill Infant and Junior School is the latest recipient of the homebuilder’s commitment to promoting community safety.

This initiative is part of an annual nationwide campaign by David Wilson Homes to provide hi-vis items to schools across the country.

Jennifer Smith, Headteacher at Castle Hill Infant and Junior School said: “Our school rules encourage children to be ready, respectful and safe. Therefore, we are appreciative of this kind donation which helps to support the children to be safe in the community too.”

Tom Wright, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “With the days getting longer, it’s still important for children to remain visible during their journeys to and from school.

“We’re pleased to support Castle Hill Infant and Junior School with these hi-vis kit bags, helping pupils stay safe on the roads throughout the year.”

Henley Gate is home to a mix of two to five bedroom properties, located on Oxlip Boulevard in Ipswich.
