WATCH: Ipswich Town unveils new £30million training complex

Premier League side Ipswich Town has unveiled its state-of-the-art £30million training complex in a new video tour.

The video, shared by the club, shows the scale of the complex at Playford Road – as well as the high-tech features throughout the building.

That includes a retina scan entry system, a bone density scanner and even a hydration measurement system built into the urinals.

Aside from the tech, the centre includes numerous new upgrades over the club’s former building, including a hydrotherapy pool, hyperbaric chambers and both cold and hot plunge pools.

It also features a new gym, cafeteria and offices for the club’s off-pitch teams.

“It’s been delivered on-time and on budget,” Club CEO and Chairman Mark Ashton told TownTV. “I’m so excited today that we can actually start to show the world.

“The club has been desperate for something like this for decades.

“It’s a real elite environment for the players.

Construction of the new centre began last spring after plans received approval from East Suffolk Council.

The centre officially opened before the start of the Premier League season, although the club had been yet to show fans through the keyhole.

Mr Ashton added: “This is most definitely the best facility like this in the region – and I think nationally is right up there with some of the best training complexes around.

“The team have done a great job in delivering this.”

Work will soon commence on improvements to the former training complex, which will become home to the club’s women’s and academy teams.

That work is expected to take eight months to complete.
