On Friday 7th July 2023, Lovell hosted an ‘apprentice forum’ for 11 of its apprentices to showcase long-term opportunities in a career in construction.
The event was held at the Lovell Bowlers Green development at Hopton-on-Sea and apprentices included bricklayers, carpenters, a site assistant manager and a trainee roofer.
Lovell started the day with an icebreaker challenge to build the tallest tower in 30 seconds with mini bricks, before attendees heard from the Lovell team about their own journeys at Lovell and opportunities available. The team who delivered presentations were managing quantity surveyor, Kelly Starkings; senior technical co-ordinator, Jo Jackson; and assistant buyer, Julie Wainwright. A site tour around Bowlers Green was also held.
Jo Ruggles, regional training advisor at Lovell, comments: “We want to inspire our apprentices and show them that the construction industry can be a career for life by showcasing opportunities and different pathways available. There is no better way to do this than giving the apprentices the opportunity to hear firsthand from the Lovell team and ask them questions. We will be hosting more of these sessions regularly for our team.”
