The Mayor of Needham Market, Councillor John Reardon, Deputy Mayor, Councillor Terry Lawrence, and housebuilder Allison Homes Eastern Counties have officially marked the start of construction work at a brand new development in the town, called Venus Fields.
Venus Fields is the housebuilder’s first development in the county, and will consist of a stunning range of 64 homes, including one, two, three and four bedroom properties and two and three bedroom bungalows.
As part of the ground breaking ceremony, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Needham Market met with the Allison Homes Eastern Counties team and received a tour of the site.
The Mayor, Councillor John Reardon, said: “Needham Market Town Council understands residential development is required, where appropriate. The Town Council considered and supported this application. I hope the build goes well and we welcome new families to our wonderful community.”
The first properties at the development will be released for sale in summer 2023 from a local estate agent, and the doors to the marketing suite and show home will open later in the year.
The name Venus Fields was inspired by the ash tree in Needham Market’s town emblem, as ash trees used to be known as the ‘Venus of the Woods’. The trees were thought to have both magical and medicinal properties, and historically the wood was burnt to receive prosperity and ward off evil spirits.
Sue Warwick, Regional Managing Director at Allison Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We are very proud to have officially commenced work on our Venus Fields development in Needham Market, and to have celebrated this occasion with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
“Venus Fields is a very exciting project for us at Allison Homes Eastern Counties, and a huge part of our growth plans as we look to expand across the region. As our first development in Suffolk, we are very much looking forward to delivering much needed housing for local people and to be transforming this site into a thriving new community.”
