The new national recruitment manager of a nationwide hire company working extensively across Suffolk and with a depot in Needham Market says it’s a ‘privilege’ to help kickstart so many people’s careers in construction.

Jasmine Simpson has been appointed to lead L Lynch Plant Hire and Haulage’s recruitment across the UK, having started at the company eight years ago.

Jasmine, whose new role is National Recruitment Manager, has been crucial to recruitment for a number of huge infrastructure projects in the east of England, including Sizewell C where the company has more than 100 working on site.

She said it was exciting to play a role in kickstarting people’s careers.

She said: “What I love is getting people into work, supporting them to find their niche in the industry, whether that’s environmental work, or civil work or another path.

“I get a lot of job satisfaction from helping people make a living and to do something they love.

“It’s a real privilege to be able to kickstart people’s careers and help them into the industry.”

Jasmine said it’s heartening to hear back from those she has supported.

“I keep in regular contact with them,” she said.

“There was one man in particular who was working on the fun fairs at Great Yarmouth who wanted more steady work to support his family.

“I got him a position at the Temporary Construction Area (TCA) for Sizewell and have just got him his digger qualification now.

“That’s what it’s all about, helping someone into a career who is now a huge asset for the company.”

In her previous role she headed up recruitment in the Midlands and East of England, but her new role sees her responsible for the whole of the UK, other than Scotland.

Jasmine said she has enjoyed working with Sizewell C, which at its peak had 116 operators working on site.

“We have had hundreds of people work there as the project progresses,” she said.

“We have so many people busy at work there, lots of local people working in and around the site.

“It’s a huge infrastructure project and so important for the east of England, so it has been great to be part of.”
