Steel signing at Broomfield Village in Chelmsford – right to left signing the column is Finlay Kirk from R G Carter and Ashish Goyal, Managing Director at Principle Care Homes.

At Broomfield Village in Chelmsford, a steel signing ceremony was held to celebrate the first key milestone of this restoration and extension project which will transform the existing building into a new 137-bed luxury residential, nursing and dementia facility for Principle Care Homes.

Hosted by East of England construction company R G Carter, the team joined members of the Principle Care Homes team, Coutts Bank and CDG, to celebrate the completion of the steel structure of the building after nine months of work.

The existing building was constructed with a light steel frame, which initially required stripping back internally and on the external facades to reveal the vast skeleton of the superstructure. Once complete, the reconfiguration of the new spaces could commence, requiring complex temporary works to be designed and installed throughout the building by R G Carter’s internal Architectural and Engineering design team CDG.

A new four storey extension has also been constructed at the rear of the care facility creating open dining space on each floor which will overlook landscaped gardens.

With the building’s steel structure now in place, it’s great to see the building progressing well, and we look forward to transforming this space for its future residents to enjoy.”

“We’re delighted with the progress of the care home so far, and the steel signing event is the perfect way to mark the start of a very special journey for us, providing a place where our residents can feel special.” explains Laura Mansfield, Customer Relationship Manager at Principle Care Homes, “The team at  R G Carter have been a pleasure to work with, fully understanding our vision and bringing it to life. We’re excited to see the rest of the home take shape over the coming months!”
