Construction has begun on a new strategic operations hub for Seatrium Offshore Renewables Services in Lowestoft.

NCL Contractors, based in Cringleford in Norfolk, has been appointed to deliver the new facility, which will provide modern operations and office space as Seatrium looks to expand its operations in the offshore renewable energy sector.

The new building will help the firm grow its offshore project delivery, hook-up, commissioning, logistics and lifecycle support services for offshore wind developments throughout the UK and Europe.

Matt Watling, Director of Operations at NCL Contractors, said: “It’s fantastic to see construction now underway on this important project for Seatrium Offshore Renewable Services.

“As a local contractor, we’re proud to be delivering a facility that will support the continued growth of the offshore renewable energy sector whilst working alongside contractors, suppliers and consultants from across Norfolk and Suffolk.

“This project is about much more than a new building. It’s an investment in the future of our region, creating opportunities for local businesses, supporting skilled employment and strengthening the supply chain that underpins the UK’s growing offshore renewables industry.

“We’re proud to be playing our part in delivering a facility that will leave a lasting legacy for Lowestoft and the wider region.”

Once complete, the hub will support the delivery of major renewable energy programmes, including Seatrium’s involvement in the TenneT 2GW offshore converter platform projects and RWE’s Sofia Offshore Wind Farm, while providing additional capacity for future growth.

Colin Yaxley, Managing Director of Seatrium Offshore Renewable Services, said: “Demand for specialist offshore renewable services continues to grow across Europe and this investment ensures we are well positioned to support our customers wherever they are delivering projects.

“This new hub strengthens our capability, supports future growth and provides the platform to continue investing in our people and operational excellence.”
