Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Eastern Counties division has welcomed a new Operations Director to its growing team in Chelmsford.
Simon Wood, 38, has brought his experience of the housebuilding industry to the leading developer having taken the next step on the career ladder.
Originally from Cardiff, he moved to Lowestoft in Suffolk and has since undertaken multiple roles, starting as a Trainee Site Manager and most recently Technical Director and Director in Charge for another housebuilder, at which he spent 22 years of his career.
Simon said: “Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ reputation precedes itself in terms of quality, so the appeal of working for a five star developer was a big part of my decision.
“The opportunity to work for the largest housebuilder in East Anglia was also a significant factor behind my move.”
Amongst his many responsibilities, Simon supports the Managing Director in executing the operational requirements of the business in line with the division’s budget and forecast.
His Thursdays are spent onsite with fellow Directors undertaking inspections, whereas a typical day in the office would involve a balance of meetings including a weekly meeting with the Land, Planning and Technical departments, at which Simon is the Chair.
Simon added: “It’s great being able to add value through my previous roles and experiences.
“The investment in the employees is second to none in terms of training, development and mentoring, and both the benefits and my colleagues are great. The company has an open-minded approach and is always looking for ways to improve.”
As part of a growing team, Simon is one of many to join Barratt and David Wilson Homes at an opportune time for career progression.
Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Simon as our new Operations Director and are already seeing the strengths and experience he’s brought to our team.
“As a leading housebuilder in East Anglia, we pride ourselves on not only providing a first-class service for our customers, but also ensuring we look after our staff and provide opportunities to progress within the company and achieve their ambitions.”
