GBS Builders has commenced demolition works at Bungay Middle School, Suffolk with a new SEND C&I provision school standing in its place.
Previously Bungay Middle School, the new school will be named Castle EAST School, part of the East Anglian Schools Trust (EAST).
Upon completion, it will accommodate around 80 children with special educational needs and disabilities between the ages of 9 and 16, with a key focus on social frameworks, communication and interactions.
GBS has been appointed by SEH French to carry out the demolition of the existing building, including soft stripping works, creating openings and knock-throughs.
Joe Garnham, MD of GBS said: “Working on a project such as this comes with great responsibility, and we are delighted that we were selected as the sub-contractors for this project which will undoubtedly make a huge impact on the lives of many children.”
The project is due to be completed by August 2021.
