Crocus Homes’ new development in Bawdsey, Suffolk has been ‘topped out’ with a bottle of local beer poured over the completed roof of one of the properties in the presence of invited local VIPs.
Foresters Glade is a new development of 13 contemporary houses by Crocus Homes. The development includes nine open market two, three and four bedroom homes and four affordable one and two bedroom homes. The first properties are due for completion early next spring.
The topping out ceremony was performed by Catherine Edwards, part of the husband and wife team who own and run The Old Felixstowe Brewing Company (TOFBC). Guests included Andrew Rouse, chair of Bawdsey parish council, and Andrew Block, vice chair, Katie Butler, headteacher of Bawdsey Primary School, representatives of contractors, Brooks & Wood and guests from Peninsula Villages Community Land Trust, who support the community to develop affordable housing in Bawdsey and surrounding parishes.
Christina Hack, assistant director at Crocus Homes, said: “Foresters Glade is in an outstanding position in a delightful village, and we are very pleased to be building here and contributing to the community. It is a wonderful area which is steeped in history and surrounded by outstanding countryside and we have had tremendous interest in the homes with three properties already reserved by potential buyers.”
She added: “The ceremony was a wonderful opportunity to welcome all those involved in the project, including guests from the local parish council, the PVCLT and local primary school. I’m immensely proud of the development. Not only will it provide high quality, efficient family homes for the open market, but will also provide much needed quality affordable homes to benefit the local community. Crocus Homes are keen supporters of local businesses, so it was lovely to involve a local brewery too.”
Catherine Edwards of TOFBC said: “It was enjoyable to mark this stage in the completion of Foresters Glade and to meet the people behind it. I wish Crocus the best of luck with the development in this delightful village and that everyone who comes to live here will create a happy home – and I hope that they all enjoy tasting our range of local beers too!”
Crocus Homes specialises in the development of open market and affordable homes, providing high quality, attractive new homes for local people. Christina Hack said: “As a small company, we are very proud that many people who live in Crocus Homes choose to stay in them for many years and each development we build quickly becomes a community in itself.”
