Construction work has begun at two neighbouring developments in Bury St Edmunds which will deliver 330 new homes to the town.

The two developments are being built by Bellway and its sister brand Ashberry Homes, and will form a major part of the wider 1,000-home Marham Park scheme taking shape north west of the town centre, close to Fornham All Saints.

Situated on land off Tut Hill, next to Bury St Edmunds Golf Club, the two developments will provide 251 homes for private sale and 79 affordable homes for rent or shared ownership.

The homes at Bronze Fields are being delivered by Bellway’s Eastern Counties division, while Saxon Heath is being built and marketed by the housebuilder’s Essex division under the Ashberry Homes brand.

Bellway will release the first homes for sale at Bronze Fields on Friday 30 April, while Saxon Heath is due to launch later this year.

Rhiannon Jones, Head of Sales for Bellway Eastern Counties, said: “Bronze Fields will deliver a range of high-quality new homes to the growing Marham Park community, which is quickly establishing itself as one of the most sought-after locations in Bury St Edmunds.

“As well as being situated close to the town centre and the neighbouring village of Fornham All Saints, the development is also just a mile from the A14, making it a convenient choice for those commuting to Ipswich and Cambridge.

“With construction work now underway, we are looking forward to releasing the first homes for sale at Bronze Fields later this month.”

The Marham Park site will provide 65 acres of parkland, sports pitches, allotments and play areas, as well as a local centre and village square. A new link road, called Marham Parkway, opened in 2018 to serve the new developments and connect Tut Hill to Mildenhall Road.

Jenny Walker, Sales Director for Bellway Essex, said: “Saxon Heath will make a significant contribution to the delivery of new homes at Marham Park and to the continued development of this emerging neighbourhood.

“The large areas of open space being provided at the site and the close proximity of Howard Primary School make this a particularly attractive location for families.

“There has already been a great deal of interest in the new homes coming to Saxon Heath and we look forward to announcing more details about the development later this year.”
