Construction Anglia burst on the scene seven years ago, bringing you all the latest industry news and updates from across the region.
Launched by Clare Friel after identifying a need for a news hub for local construction news, the website and its readership has grown rapidly each year since.
Its social media following in particular has soared, with the website recently smashing 10,000 followers on Linkedin.
Here, Clare looks back at the news website’s first seven years and how sponsorship and support can take it to the next level.
How far we have come
When I started Construction Anglia I had no idea it would be what it is today.
It started as simply identifying a niche in the market – a website for construction in the East of England sharing the industry’s big stories.
Now, seven years on, we have two trained journalists at the helm identifying the biggest stories across the region, publishing more news than ever.
We’re now branching out into fascinating exclusives and features and have plans for even more.
The website’s readership has swelled, with more than 24,000 active website users this year alone and our stories gaining thousands of views each.
Our social media presence is second to none, attracting thousands of people from across the construction sector to the website – from CEOs and managing directors to apprentices and new starters.
We have covered the biggest construction events across East Anglia – from the inaugural BUILD Suffolk expo, where we were media partners, to the grand opening of Colchester Institute’s new Sustainable Construction Centre.

Our popular ‘Movers and Shakers’ quarterly feature – a rundown of all the big personnel news from across the region – has also become a huge hit.
It’s the engagement we get on social media that blows me away, how far our stories reach online and how many conversations are sparked.
Posts on LinkedIn alone have achieved almost 700,000 impressions so far in 2026, more than 10,000 reactions, and the engagement numbers keep rising.
We are proud to champion this incredible industry, its achievements and successes, the challenges it faces and the amazing people who dedicate their lives to this innovative sector.
It’s been quite the journey – from having the idea sitting in my kitchen to the news website it is today – and we have big plans for the future.
The next chapter
So far, the website has been funded purely through Friel, our sister PR company – it’s been a labour of love, if you like.
Despite this, Construction Anglia has remained fiercely independent and kept editorially separate from the company.
Our two journalists wouldn’t have it any other way and would let me know in a heartbeat if they felt it was anything but.
In recognition of this, we are now accredited with the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO), the independent regulator for the UK digital and print news industry, and its strict editorial policies.
The website does feature sponsored content, offering businesses more opportunity to share their news, but this is clearly signposted and is rigorously vetted by our editorial team before publication.
We want Construction Anglia to be the go-to, independent construction news website for the East of England, sharing the latest news on the big projects, uncovering unique human interest stories and delving into the big issues the sector faces.
What we need from you
We now want to step up how many stories we cover, to explore more exclusives and ask more questions the industry wants answering.
We also want the website to continue to be free for our readership, and would never want to use a paywall or subscription model to fund it.
We want our editorial team to spend more time unearthing stories, covering events, visiting construction sites, filing freedom of information requests and writing in-depth features – and need your support to do so.
To achieve this, Construction Anglia has launched our new partner packages, giving businesses the opportunity to have sponsored content and features written and published by our expert team, alongside a range of sponsorship packages, where your business will be advertised to construction leaders across the region.
Construction Anglia offers businesses in the East of England the unique opportunity to get your name in front of a huge audience of construction professionals, industry leaders and decision makers.
